About Us
We Cannot Improve The Quality of Life Alone
The City-Parish cannot take on improving the quality of life in our community alone. There are over 39 groups, non-profits, and city organization recognized by the city parish who regularly sponsor clean- up days in neighborhoods, parks, city and state roadways, and other throughfares.
Between January 1-June 30, 2022, the Department of Maintenance collected
- 900 tons of illegally dumped debris from rights-of-way
- 2,100 tires
- 9,300 bags of trash from weekend litter collection every Saturday and Sunday morning from our high litter corridors, averaging about 350-500 bags every weekend
- 44 tons of litter collected from roadways prior to mowing
- 26 tons of debris from the Spanish Town Parade cleanup
- 44 tons of debris for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade cleanup

Cleanup Our Waterways
It is not just our roadways and public property that are filled with litter. The majority of litter ends up in our waterways. Through grassroot efforts, volunteers hold cleanup days for our lakes and tributaries.
